Dublin 5 is on the north side of Dublin. The area includes most of Artane, central Coolock, Harmonstown, Kilbarrack, and Raheny. The suburb of Coolock was featured extensively during location shooting for the critically-acclaimed 1991 film The Commitments. Other notable features include the ancient ringfort in the village of Raheny. The ringfort – or rath – is what gives the area gets its name. The rath extends under the centre of the modern village from beside the Santry River. Some excavation works were carried out on the rath in the 1970s.
